Projects created for streets, civic spaces, cultural institutions, and temporary public encounters in Cuba and Germany.
Julio Neira has produced large-scale murals, sculptures, collaborative workshops, and temporary interventions outside the conventional gallery. Many projects were created for Sancti Spíritus, connecting local history, community participation, architecture, and environmental themes.
Utopia IV (2014) — mural created for a youth center in Oederan, Germany.
Trigonolith — Threepointer (2013) — cast-concrete sculpture in Le Marin, Martinique.
Fountain (2001) — cast-concrete work for the atrium of Hotel del Rijo in Sancti Spíritus.
Homage to the City I (1998) — patinated ceramics, glazed tiles, stone and shells for the Provincial Radio Station.
Allegoric Sculpture to the Foundation of the City (1994) — a five-meter civic sculpture created for Plaza de la Fundación, Sancti Spíritus.
Projects include murals developed through workshops with primary-school children on environmental responsibility and the future, as well as architectural works using concrete, ceramic, marble, river stone, wood, plaster, and polychrome clay. These projects extend Neira’s studio vocabulary into shared civic space.
White Sheets (2011) temporarily transformed an art pavilion in Gera, Germany through a collaborative intervention.
Dynamics of a Journey (2006) combined living sculpture, video art, and three large-format drawings at Havana’s La Coubre bus station during the 9th Havana Biennial.
Triumphal Arch with Memorable Apocryphal Character (2003; repeated in 2005) used commercial cardboard boxes and steel scaffolding as a temporary public installation in Sancti Spíritus.
